About Saucony

Saucony was largely a well-kept secret among a small amount of distance runners, until 1977 when the company received a prestigious award from an American magazine. The Saucony story began in 1910 in the town of Cambridge, Massachusetts, when Russian immigrant Abraham Hyde opened a shoe store called A.R. Hyde & Sons.

Hyde & Sons began by producing slippers and women's and children's street shoes and eventually moved into sport-specific footwear. In 1968, Hyde acquired the Saucony Shoe Manufacturing Company of Kutztown, Pennsylvania. They continue to be well-treasured by the running community today with many of its customers refusing to wear anything but Saucony shoes.
